Facilities

Deloach HallThe Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography is located in modern, air-conditioned DeLoach Hall. Here you will find a state-of-the-art, multimedia-equipped lecture hall, smaller classrooms and faculty offices, student introductory and advanced laboratories, and research laboratories. Oceanography studies are carried out in laboratories and aboard research vessels found at the new Center for Marine Science in Myrtle Grove, about 5 miles south of the main campus.

Experimental research at UNCW benefits from close collaboration with researchers at other laboratories, like the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratories (TUNL), the National Institutes of Science and Technology (NIST), and Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory (JLAB). Through such collaborations, UNCW students have access to state-of-the-art equipment found only at the largest research institutions.
