Regional Engagement Center

**Currently, Provost Hosier is considering the formal approval of the Regional Engagement Center. In the meantime, the Center will continue to be involved in Regional Outreach.**                                                   - Milan Dluhy, Ph.D.

What is the Regional Engagement Center?
The Regional Engagement Center seeks to fulfill the fundamental mission to integrate dialogue with citizens and policy research. In the broadest sense, the Center will engage citizens and leaders in consequential dialogue, serve as a problem solver in seeking sensible solutions, fostering partnerships and special projects, and provide an opportunity for community leaders from all sectors of society to work together to make positive changes.

Our Mission
The mission of the Center is dedicated to: helping the civic community in the Cape Fear Region develop better public policy through innovative engagement strategies; developing databases and tracking systems to monitor and assess the critical demographic, economic, social, and environmental changes in the region; and identifying and disseminating "best practices" to the governmental, nonprofit, and private sectors as needed.

Our Main Goals

  • Stimulate debate and dialogue about Regional issues
  • Prioritize major Regional issues to work on in the near future
  • Develop and assess solutions for selected Regional problems
  • Develop problem solving partnerships between the community and UNCW
