Police Alert

During early morning hours over the weekend, campus employees discovered signs of forced entry in Kenan Auditorium, Alderman Hall and James Hall. Campus police discovered evidence of burglary in several academic and administrative support offices. While small amounts of money and equipment have been identified as missing, no evidence of major theft was found. No student or personnel records were stolen or compromised.

Campus police will be increasing patrols during overnight hours. Faculty and staff are urged to fully secure all belongings and buildings at the end of each workday.

UNCW Police are investigating several recent instances of breaking and entering that have occurred in academic and support buildings on campus.
Campus community members are encouraged to secure their workspaces and report any suspicious person(s) or activity to UNCW Police via the following methods: phone 911 or 910-962-2222/910-962-TIPS, web www.uncw.edu/police or submitted anonymously through Text-A-Tip: enter text Tip708 and the message and send to CRIMES 274637.

The safety of every member of our campus community is our top priority. Students are reminded to walk with friends, call for an escort from UNCW police (Ext. 2-2222), keep their windows and doors secure, utilize well-lit walkways and the Seahawk Shuttle, be aware of emergency call box locations, carry a cell phone to dial 911 and report to UNCW police any suspicious individuals or unusual activities. Increased police and security patrols have been initiated in the residential areas on the campus
