Dr. Jeanne Kemppainen has been selected as a fellow in the prestigious American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Kemppainen will be inducted into the academy at the Academy’s 2014 Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference on October 18, 2014, in Washington, DC. Two PreLicensure Students Received National Awards in Gerontology:
Three leadership awards were announced from the National Gerontological Nursing Association (NGNA) and two of the recipients are prelicensure nursing students from UNCW. Alicia Iammatteo and Casey Patula (PreLicensure Students, Class of May 2015) will receive a 2014 Gerontological Nursing Student Leadership Award at the NGNA’s Convention in October 2-4 in San Antonio, Texas. Ali and Casey were two of the three students nationally selected to receive this award for their essay. Both students have a passion for working with the older adult, Ali has plans to pursue graduate studies as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner following her undergraduate studies and Casey plans to return to work at Duke University Hospital and work with geriatric pulmonary transplant patients. Congratulations to Ali and Casey, we are very proud of you! Special thanks for Dr. Tammy Arms for serving as their faculty mentor and sponsor.
