Faculty Internal Awards
UNCW Office of Academic Affairs has traditionally supported and provided small grants to faculty to pilot innovative research, teaching, and service projects. Faculty in the School of Nursing received awards from the Center for Teaching Excellence, Graduate School, Office of Research Services, and Information and Technology Resources. These small grants totaling from $1,000 to $25,000 have resulted in innovations and improvements in web-based and distance learning pedagogies, simulation learning in teaching, program evaluation, and quality enhancement plans (QEP). For example, faculty members have piloted the use of gaming technologies, second-life, puppets, and WIMBA technologies into courses to enhance both undergraduate and graduate student learning.
