RN Access Nursing Course Requirements (Effective Fall 2008)
A minimum of one calendar year of full-time study is necessary to complete the required nursing courses. Flexible part-time study is available for students wishing to take longer to complete their degree.
RN to BS option nursing courses are offered through a structured online environment and facilitated by experienced and available faculty. Students must have sufficient computer access and skills to operate an Internet browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator), Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and e-mail, at a minimum. However, support is available through the UNCW Technology Support Services desk by either email or phone. Additionally, the faculty is supportive and interaction between the student and faculty occurs on a flexible, but regular basis.
Clinical experiences are set in the community settings. Travel to the UNCW campus is not typically required.
The following nursing courses must be completed at UNCW in order to satisfy the RN to BS degree requirements. Additionally, upon completion of NSG 316 (Expanding Roles of Nursing Practice), the student will be granted 35 semester credits towards the required 124 credits necessary for graduation. These credits are for recognition of previous education and work experience in the field of nursing.
