Craig Steenerson

Craig Steenerson grew up in So. California where he received his Liberal Studies degree from California State University, San Bernardino and went on to earn an MFA in Theatre Technology (with an emphasis in scenic design) from Utah State University. Craig then served as the Technical Director for the Utah Festival Opera (1997-2001) and went on to teach at Arizona State University (2001-2004) where he designed lights for Ramona (which he received a Zoni nomination) and sets for Black Woman’s Blues and Good N’ Plenty directed by guest director Jack Reuler of Mixed Blood Theatre Co. of Minneapolis.

Craig returned to his beach roots in 2004 when he accepted the position of Assistant Professor at UNCW as Technical Director but most recently lit the production of Abs7dities. He spent the summer of 2006 working in the Tri State area of New York with TriArts mounting the productions Aint’ Misbehavin’, Chicago, and Will Rogers Follies.

Craig has lent his talents to hundreds of productions, many of which he is very proud of, others, well….that’s just show business. He currently teaches Stagecrafts, CAD and Sound Design, and oversees the production crews. He designs productions as needed and looks forward to making his new home in the Cultural Arts Building (CAB). Craig extends thanks to his wife, Kindra, for her support and encouragement.

His philosophy has always been “good, cheap, fast: pick two.”
