Our proximity to the film market has provided numerous opportunities for student internships. Current students are working at Screen Gems Studio, and interning for popular television shows such as, One Tree Hill and Surface that are filmed in Wilmington. Other students have interned for theatre companies in New York, and in major regional theatres across the USA. There are also opportunities with casting agencies here, and local radio markets.

Students are afforded the opportunity to work with major theatre and film professionals on their projects here and abroad. Dr. Vincent recently took a group of theatre students to Prague to produce a short feature film that has won numerous prizes and accolades. This summer she will bring her students to Chile, to complete another important artistic project that deals with the indigenous peoples of Chile. Students will perform, serve as grips, AD, and learn other crucial aspects of the film business all on location.

A great advantage for students at UNCW is that these internships give them a leg up in the profession, and many go right on to successful careers in film, television and theatre.
