NEW THEATRE UP and RUNNING

The Departments of Theatre, Music and Art share this remarkable and long-awaited new building, which opened in December 2006. The building is divided into production and academic wings. The production area consists of a music recital hall, art gallery, and two theatres. The theatre area alone consists of:

  • 290 fixed-seat proscenium theatre that includes balcony, full fly space, orchestra pit, three control booths, and all new equipment.
  • Black box theatre with flexible seating for 114 patrons, offers multiple configurations and well- equipped with best sound and lighting equipment.
  • Beautifully-equipped and conveniently located scene and costume shops and storage areas.
  • Complete dressing rooms with showers and makeup stations, and large, student-oriented green room.
  • Acting/Dance studio features rubber-footed, sprung floors, ample storage, and natural lighting.
  • Academic wing includes computer CAD lab, large design studios, and dedicated seminar facility.
  • Lecture halls are IT equipped for theatre history and academic courses.
  • Specialized sound-reinforced faculty offices are earmarked for individualized audition technique sessions or vocal production/voiceover work.
