The UNCW Certified Trainer Academy prepares instructors, trainers, facilitators, and subject matter experts to design, deliver, and evaluate engaging learning experiences that strengthen workforce performance and support organizational talent development. Grounded in evidence-based instructional design, adult learning principles, and practical application, the Academy equips participants with the knowledge and skills to develop effective training programs that produce measurable learning outcomes.
The Academy is fully customizable to address the unique training needs of organizations across the public, private, nonprofit, healthcare, higher education, and military sectors. For example, the curriculum has been adapted for military audiences to help bridge military and civilian instructional approaches while maintaining a strong emphasis on instructional excellence. Similar customization can be provided for learning and development (L&D) teams and organizations seeking to strengthen internal training capacity.
Participants who successfully complete the Academy demonstrate continued professional growth in instructional delivery, curriculum design, learner engagement, and assessment. The Academy consists of the following non-credit courses:
- Advanced Instructor Presentation & Delivery (AIPD)
- Design and Delivery of Instructor-Led Training (DDILT)
- Effective Teaching Seminar (ETS)
- Evaluation of Testing (ET)
- Mentoring and Monitoring of Instructors (MMI)
Additional elective offerings include:
- Effective Written Communication
- Creativity & Innovation
- Critical Thinking
Every Certified Trainer Academy cohort can be customized to meet the specific goals, industry requirements, and organizational priorities of the client.
