JazzFest The 40th Annual JazzFast will be held in March 2024. Clinics for Middle and High School Jazz Ensembles. Featuring 5-time GRAMMY nominated guest artist Chuck Owen and ReSurgence. JazzFest
Young Artist Showcase Competition UNCW Beckwith Recital Series, Young Artist Showcase Competition Eligibility: grades 9-12 / New Hanover County (exceptionally advanced younger students are welcome to audition) Awards: Cash awards, UNCW Department of Music Scholarship opportunity, and performance on the Young Artist Showcase Series (livestreamed/professionally recorded). Performance date: Saturday, July 27th, 4pm. Winners may request a complimentary lesson with UNCW faculty in the student's applied area. Repertoire: Selections from any of the classical style periods that is between 10-15 minutes in length. Seahawk Musician for a Day The Department of Music invites you to join us on Wednesday, Nov. 8, to become a Seahawk Musician for a Day! High school, home-school, and community college students can explore life as a UNCW music major: attend classes, meet our faculty and students, sit in on ensembles and explore our beautiful Cultural Arts Building. Honor Band Festival Festival participants are selected based on their musical accomplishments and their director’s assessment and recommendation. They attend performances by the UNCW Symphonic Band, jazz and faculty ensembles and participate in rehearsals and master classes with faculty. Honor Band Festival
Brass Day The brass faculty of the UNCW Department of Music invites you to join us on Saturday, January 6, for Brass Day! High school, home-school, and community brass players will work with our faculty in large and small ensembles, and in master classes, culminating in a finale concert. Registration is free. Join Us
Woodwind Day The woodwind faculty of the UNCW Department of Music invites you to join us on Saturday, January 20, for Woodwind Day! Open to high school woodwind players (flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet and saxophone) grades 9-12, with the recommendation of their school band or orchestra director. Students will work with our faculty in large and small ensembles, and in masterclasses, culminating in a final concert. Woodwind Day
Piano + Strings Day The piano and string faculty of the UNCW Department of Music invites you to join us on Saturday, January 27 for Piano + Strings Day! High school, home-school, and community piano and string players will work with our faculty in large and small ensembles, and in master classes, culminating in a finale concert. Registration is free. Music Production Day Join UNCW faculty and guest artists on February 2 for a day of music production. High school, home-schooled, and community college students are invited to attend. Participants are encouraged to share recorded and produced songs or perform live during the showcase concert. Registration is free. Check It Out
