Transfer Admission - Requirements

UNCW will consider several aspects of your application in making our admission decision. Your academic performance from all institutions you have attended is the largest decision factor.

Minimum Requirements for Consideration

  • Meet Minimum Course Requirements (for applicants under the age of 21)
  • Graduated from an accredited high school or have obtained a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or received an Adult High School Diploma
  • Eligibility to return to the last institution you attended
  • A cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale on all transferable work attempted from all institutions you have attended
  • At least 24 semester hours of transferable college-level coursework, including:
    • At least 6 hours of college-level English
    • At least 3 hours of college-level mathematics
  • Please note: Grades below a C, including ''C-' are not transferable
  • Please note: Spring admission is highly competitive and dependent upon space availability

Students Not Meeting MCR & GED Recipients

In the event that an applicant under the age of 21 does not meet Minimum Course Requirements or received a GED, the following requirements must be met in addition to the requirements outlined above:

  • 6 semester hours of college-level English
  • 6 semester hours of college-level mathematics
  • 6 semester hours of college-level science
  • 6 semester hours of college-level social science
  • 6 semester hours of college-level foreign language (must be taken in sequence)

Obtain an Associate of Arts or Science degree from a regionally accredited two-year institution. (Associate of Applied Science degrees do not fulfill North Carolina's Minimum Course Requirements.)
