Dr. Julian Keith, Professor
I primarily teach General Psychology (PSY 105) and the History of Psychology (PSY 405). My philosophy of teaching leans heavily towards promoting students’ own inherent, but sometimes latent, interests in questions about the mind, behavior, and the brain. Emphasis is placed on understanding the mind as an evolved adaptation that can be understood using the scientific method; i.e., the mind is a natural phenomenon.
Our laboratory studies brain electrophysiology and the use of neurofeedback (i.e., EEG biofeedback) in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Information on our current National Institute of Health study.
We would like to acknowledge BrainPaint for the use of their neurofeedback system, training, customizations, and consultation. BrainPaint provides evidence-based equipment to research centers, institutions and practitioners. It is the first neurofeedback system to automate the individualized assessment process based on the successful results of a 2005 UCLA study which normalized variables of attention.
