Basics of College

  • Courses are usually 3 credit hours and usually meet either two or three days a week.
  • Certain classes are 4 credit hours due to a lab component. Labs are sometimes listed as a separate class, so read your course names carefully. For example, GLY 120 and GLYL 120. (If a class has a lab component, you will need to sign up for the lab and lecture at the exact same time. This will be covered in the SeaNet & Registration video.)
  • Full-time students enroll in at least 12 credit hours, however students can only register for up to 10 hours during Early Registration.
  • Students are encouraged to enroll in 14 - 16 hours each semester and can add further classes at Orientation.
  • To graduate, students must complete 124 credit hours.
  • The 124 hours are separated into the following parts and must be completed prior to graduation:
    • University Studies Curriculum requirements
    • Major requirements
    • Electives, depending on your major
