Distinguished Faculty Scholar

The purpose of the award is to recognize all aspects of excellence in scholarship, research, and creativity including activities that involve colleagues and students. There will be up to two Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award recipients each year.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Full-time faculty (EHRA-Faculty) who have completed at least five years at UNCW

Criteria for Nomination and Selection:

Nomination materials should address applicable areas, which may be demonstrated through diverse scholarly and creative forms, including but not limited to the following:

• A focused, sustained scholarly, research, or creative agenda appropriate to the nominee's discipline(s)
• High-quality scholarly or creative outputs, such as peer-reviewed publications, juried or curated creative works, performance, exhibitions, applied tools, or equivalent products recognized within the field
• External recognition of scholarly or creative contributions, including awards, fellowships, residencies, invited presentations, commissioned work, or professional distinction
• Innovation, originality, or leadership that advances knowledge, practice, culture, policy, or professional fields
• Application or translation of scholarship to benefit society, such as public scholarship, policy or practice influence, clinical or community impact, cultural enrichment, or intellectual property
• Competitiveness for funding or resources, including internal and external grants, commissions, residencies, or other disciplinary equivalents supporting scholarly or creative work
• Collaborative scholarship or creative activity, including interdisciplinary, cross-sector, or community-engaged partnerships
• Leadership in scholarly or creative communities, such as editing or reviewing publications, convening conferences or exhibitions, evaluating grants, or shaping professional practice
• Integration of scholarship or creative work into undergraduate and graduate education, including curriculum development, high-impact educational practices, or experiential learning
• Mentorship of students, including advising, supervision of thesis or honors projects, research or creative collaboration, and support of student professional development
