The purpose of the award is to exemplify UNCW's commitment to excellence in teaching and in teaching-related activities by recognizing faculty members who have made a profound contribution to higher education through their dedication and service to students.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Full-time faculty (EHRA-Faculty) who have completed at least seven years of teaching at UNCW (not necessarily consecutive)
- Currently teaching at least half of a normal teaching load, as defined by the college/school
- Faculty nominated for multiple teaching awards in the same year may submit materials for only one award
Criteria for Nomination and Selection:
Nominees are evaluated on sustained excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and teaching-related activities, including:
- Clear and effective teaching philosophy and instructional practice
- Mastery of subject matter and evidence-based pedagogy
- Leadership and initiative in teaching within courses or programs
- Course and curriculum development
- Mentoring and advising of undergraduate and graduate students
- Commitment to student success, engagement, and career development
- Educational service to the department, college, university, profession, or community
- Evidence of teaching impact, including student feedback, peer review, and recognition

Selection Process:
- A review committee appointed by Teaching, Learning and Library Services (TLLS) reviews nominations and selects a recipient
